Founded by Norma Cruz Ruiz, Momitos first went online in 2015 with just a few handmade items. But life took an unexpected turn—Norma stepped in to run Echelon Studio, which has since grown into a thriving salon she’s proud of.
Still, the dream of Momitos never left her heart.
Norma’s story begins in San Juan Bautista Tlachichilco, Oaxaca, Mexico, a small town where she grew up one of six girls. After losing her father, her mother worked hard to raise the family—teaching them hard work, creativity, and never to forget their roots. From selling clothes, food and various home items alongside her mom to finding beauty in the simplest things, those lessons shaped the dream of Momitos.
The name Momito was a nickname given to her by her mother who passed away in Oaxaca at the early age of forty-six years old.
